FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What online platform do you use for teaching classes?
Our preferred online tool for classes is Zoom but we also use Teams with some students. If neither of these work for you and you would like to use another platform, we're happy to discuss and we'll do our best to accommodate what you are comfortable with.
How does the trial class work?
We offer one 60-minute online trial class per person. The purpose of the trial class for you is to get an idea of how classes work and to give you a sense for how we will work together. We use the class on our end to complete an informal assessment of your Spanish level. This helps us understand where to start in your classes if you choose to continue.
How much homework should I expect?
Every student is different and we customize homework based on your needs, the time you have, and how fast you want to accelerate your Spanish. We have some students who complete 30 minutes of homework per week and some that do several hours. It's something we will discuss with you to make sure we are meeting your needs.
How do I pay for classes?
We accept payment via WorldRemit and Xoom which are both safe and fast ways to send money worldwide.
Do you teach Spanish from Spain or from Latin America?
Both! Although there are differences in dialects, expressions and accents worldwide, much of the base grammar is consistent. We will customize your homework so the content is relevant for you.
How many classes should I take per week?
We recommend 2 classes per week for accelerating your Spanish learning but this can be customized based on the time you have and how fast you want to accelerate your learning. We have students who take classes once per week and students who take 2-3 classes per week. Others who are preparing for a trip or business meeting who take classes 5 days a week for a specific time period. There is no minimum requirement and you can go at your own pace.
How long are classes?
Classes are 60 minutes in length. If you'd like longer sessions it's possible to book two classes back to back.
What days/hours do you work?
We work Monday to Friday and can accommodate different hours per day as we work with students worldwide in a variety of timezones. We have the flexibility to work together to find class times that will work for us both.
Do you offer group classes?
Currently we only offer one-on-one classes but we are considering offering a "Club de Lectura" which is like a Spanish book club offered at different Spanish levels. We would select an appropriate book and everyone in the group would committ to reading a specific number of chapters. Then we would get together weekly or bi-weekly to discuss and pull out key learnings. We would love to know if this is something you are interested in! If you would like to be added to a list to be notified if we offer this service, please email us at oralespanishschool@gmail.com and ask to be put on the list for "Club de Lectura."
Do you offer in-person classes?
All of our classes are offered online via Zoom or Teams.
